This is the same pattern I see when clients chase hot sectors—data centers, AI, whatever's shiny. Hype makes due diligence feel optional.

A diversified portfolio with basic checks would've caught the red flags: no assets, no revenue, no receipts. But greed overrides process.

The lesson isn't just about Varanium. It's about staying boring when everyone else is getting rich.

This is the reason why SME IPOs are risky..not enough due diligence is required to list — hopefully like you mentioned the SME listing requirements should get stricter safeguarding shareholders

What is the monetary cap on commissions, and does the price threshold now fall under SEBI regulation where it wasn't previously?

I couldn't find an exact figure, and it was fairly complicated, but IRDAI is finding a way to change that figure and is considering adding trail commissions like for MFs.

No, the price threshold doesn't fall under SEBI. IRDAI has already fined them for this. SEBI got involved because the manner in which excess compensation was passed on looked like securities fraud; thus, IRDAI passed the file to SEBI to see if there was wrongdoing on that front.

Ok, thanks Kashish for clarifying ☺️
