The lab grown diamond point is interesting becuse it shows how premiumisation isn't always linear. While Richemont's jewelry brands face that tech disruption, their watch portfolio actually benefits from the opposite trend where mechanical complexity and heritage command more premium. The aspiration economy you describe splits into emotional value versus functional value, and traditional luxury players need to double down on storytelling and craftsmanship to maintain pricing power.

I believe Zudio is not premium; but it disguises as premium by changing optics of their stores similar to Pantaloon or Westside. Their cloth quality is as good or just a notch above the shops outside Mumbai’s suburb stations.
